CPG Facilities Management and Ground-Up Initiative Sign MOU to Pioneer Sustainability and Kampung Spirit in the Built Environment
Singapore, 8 November 2025 – CPG Facilities Management (CPG FM) and Ground-Up Initiative (GUI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalise a milestone partnership that brings together facilities management expertise with community-driven approaches to sustainability.
The MOU, signed by Mr Alan Goh, Chief Executive Officer of CPG FM, and Mr Chua Ping Yit, President of GUI, represents an industry-leading collaboration in Singapore’s facilities management sector. Centred on the kampung spirit, the ethos of caring for people, nature and shared spaces, it brings together CPG FM’s expertise in operations and asset management with GUI’s strengths in placemaking, circular economy practices and sustainability education. The partnership demonstrates how technical excellence, and grassroots innovation can foster belonging, strengthen stewardship and create lasting environmental and social value.
Reflecting on the evolving role of facilities management within communities, Mr Goh said: “At CPG FM, we see facilities management as more than operations – it is a platform to shape how people experience the built environment. Partnering with GUI enables us to channel our technical capabilities into meaningful initiatives that embed Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles into daily FM practice, while also setting new benchmarks for the industry.”
“We are delighted to partner with CPG FM to bring sustainability and community engagement into the spaces where people live, work, and play. This collaboration reflects our shared belief that by nurturing people, place, and planet, we can co-create a greener and more connected Singapore,” added Mr Chua, as he emphasised on the value of partnering FM expertise with community-driven initiatives.
Highlights of the collaboration include the deployment of plastic-to-infrastructure recycling, hands-on sustainability workshops and joint efforts to embed kampung spirit and environmental stewardship into FM operations — a strategic approach not yet undertaken at scale by other FM players. The partnership comes at an opportune time for GUI, coinciding with the official opening of its new Kampung Kampus on 8 November.
Activating Spaces for Learning and Community Impact
Through this collaboration, CPG FM and GUI will transform managed properties into dynamic platforms for learning, engagement, and sustainable transformation. Pilot initiatives are set to begin at key sites such as HDB complexes, which serve thousands of residents and businesses daily. These locations will be activated with eco-arts programmes, upcycling initiatives, and sustainability-in-action demonstrations designed not only to entertain, but also to instill new habits of care and stewardship among the public.
Beyond placemaking, the collaboration will extend into Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and ESG-focused programmes. These will include experiential learning journeys, corporate volunteering opportunities, and co-branded outreach campaigns that align with national green initiatives such as the SG60 Plastic Collection. By engaging both employees and communities, the programmes will deepen awareness of climate issues while providing tangible opportunities for participation.
Innovation and capability building will also form a core focus of the MOU. Both organisations are exploring the co-development of mobile demonstration booths, regenerative placemaking models, and educational modules that can be rolled out across different properties. Training sessions, workshops, and staff engagement programmes will be designed to equip both internal teams and external partners with the skills and knowledge needed to champion sustainability in daily operations.
Collaboration for Community and Sustainability
The collaboration reflects Singapore’s Green Plan 2030 ambitions, particularly in areas of resource stewardship, resilient communities, and climate action. It also addresses growing public expectations for companies to deliver not just services, but also social and environmental value.
This partnership underscores a shift in the FM industry toward a more strategic role in placemaking and ESG integration. By pioneering this model, CPG FM and GUI hope to inspire other players in the sector to see facilities not merely as assets to be managed, but as ecosystems that can educate, connect, and empower.
