Vincent's Advice to His Younger Self
If you could write to your younger self, what would you say?
Mr Vincent Loh, Group Chief Commercial Officer of CPG Corporation and Chief Executive Officer of CPG International, learnt some of his most enduring lessons by stepping into the unknown and embracing challenges.
Success Is Built with People
What I learnt early on is that success is never a solo pursuit. Ideas only take shape when people believe in them and carry them forward together. It is collaboration, empathy and respect that transform plans into meaningful outcomes.
This became even clearer when I took on my first international role, leading teams across languages, time zones and cultures. I realised that alignment does not come from giving directions, but from fostering trust. Progress is not achieved through control, but by creating space for others to contribute, thrive and to do their best work.
Growth is a Journey
Unfamiliar opportunities have shaped me more than the ones I thought I was prepared for. Trained as a civil and structural engineer, a key chapter of my life began when I joined CPG Consultants as Vice President in the Education Division, leading our civil and structural engineering teams. Together, we implemented standards that enabled us to deliver 15 to 20 schools annually for the Ministry of Education.
Before that, my time with a global MNC sharpened my instincts in business development, particularly in working with international clients such as IBM, GSK, Wyeth, and Merck. Beyond any single sector, these experiences taught me the value of trust in opening doors across industries and borders. A pivotal point was the Rochester project, which led me to head the Business Development Division under the mentorship of Mr Pang Toh Kang and Mr Kok King Min (both previous top management in CPG Consultants).
Recognising the need to expand beyond Singapore, I also made a deliberate push to build an international team and venture beyond our borders. Starting from scratch, we became lead designers for all GEMS Education schools in the UAE, completing more than 60 schools to date. These experiences reminded me that growth is never a straight line, but a journey shaped by challenges, relationships and the courage to step beyond the familiar.
Stay Humble and Keep Learning
When rushing to get things done or making tough decisions, there will be times when it seems easier to just compromise. However, it is in those quiet moments, away from the eyes of others, that your values matter most. Integrity is how you see yourself. The quiet choices you make when nobody is watching is what build the inner strength and the foundation that will support you long after praise or recognition fade away.
Inspiring Through Mentorship
I try to mentor by example. I believe in creating space for others to step up, sometimes even before they feel ready. I emphasise integrity, resilience, curiosity and a purpose-driven mindset. These values have anchored my journey, and I hope they guide the next generation as well.
The best growth happens when people feel supported, and are given both the trust and responsibility to rise to the occasion.
Protect What Grounds You
Amid the rush of work, do not lose sight of what keeps you balanced. For me, photography became that anchor. It taught me patience, an eye for detail, and to appreciate different perspectives. Whatever it may be for you, whether it is a creative outlet, time with loved ones, or simply space to pause, hold onto it. These are the things that help you stay focused and keep moving forward.
